THE THRILL-SEEKERS 33 – Inside Scoop

THE THRILL-SEEKERS 33 – Inside Scoop

A little information is never a bad thing.  Caroline Belmont is dishing the goods on her husband and his compatriots, which may prove useful to Pastor down the line.  Also, we finally learn how this storyline got its name.

Also, regular readers might notice that I changed the header.  Besides being considerably smaller, I changed the logo itself a little.  I used a new font for  the “HURT” portion of the logo, so it’s a little more aggressive.  With the smaller logo, more of the strip is visible when you open the page, instead of having to scroll down.  Last week on Webcomics.com, Brad (”Evil, Inc.”) Guigar was running case studies on webcomic site design, and I followed the advice he gave to others.  Mr. Guigar was also kind enough to take a look at my changes and make some suggestions.  There may still be more tweaking down the line.

By the way, Mrs. Belmont’s barely-there covering is based on a real nightgown from a 1972 edition of the Frederick’s of Hollywood catalog I bought off e-Bay…strictly in the name of research, of course.  I posted a scan of the original nightgown on the WORLD OF HURT Facebook fan page, right here.

Never let it be said that I don’t do my homework.

Have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving, everyone!

I wondered why that Frederick’s of Hollywood catalogue was in the bathroom. Ha! Seriously, your research for your characters, clothes, cityscapes, dialogue, etc. always amazes me. And, all that work is paying off in this comic.

Got to love the decision to cover up a bikini with a skimpy nightgown. Especially since it doesn’t so much seem to be “night.”

Also, can I tell people about how the idea for that first panel changed last night around suppertime and how I saw you sketching it on a piece of paper while your dinner was heating in the microwave?

    Guess Who?-
I suppose you just did. :) I was halfway done with inking the original version, when I realized how out of character they seemed. Also, the figures were much smaller in the original version and Charles was in the photo. Given his enjoyment of photography, it made more sense that Charles might have been behind the camera.

    Doug G.-
Believe me, Pastor is staying for breakfast. Caroline is just ahead of the curve.

And how could she resist “the plungiest plunge in dreamland?”

First panel ended up very nice — the giant, slimy faces grinning right at you definitely works big.
