TO THE BADDEST MOTHER*****’ING FANS IN THE WORLD!

Thank you everyone for making last week’s promotion such a huge success.  Carl Weathers definitely got your messages and he Tweeted his acceptance speech for the 2009 Unsung Bad Mother****** Of The Year Award within a matter of hours.

Therefore, true to my word, I put the names of those who Tweeted invitations to Carl Weathers into my trusty straw hat and my lovely assistant, Noelle, randomly drew a name of the person who will receive an original commission and WORLD OF HURT t-shirt.  The winner goes by the nom de Twitter of MeisterJ, aka Jasmine P.!

Congratulations, MeisterJ!  Give me a holler at my Yahoo account and let me know your contact information and what you want on your commissioned illustration.

Again, thank you so much.  You are the best readers a guy could ask for!  I really look forward to your input, because it definitely keeps me going.

Also, a special thank you to our sponsor, BMFWallets.  Remember, it’s not too late to order a Christmas gift for that bad mother****** in your life, so drop by www.BMFWallets.com and pick out one (or more) of their selection of fine gifts.

Your lovely assistant must not have gotten the bribe money I wired over before the drawing. Bad assistant! And awesome job — in my mind, Carl Weathers is now rushing out of bed every Wednesday morning to check in on Pastor. (You know, in anticipation of getting cast in the movie version and all … )

Excellent analysis of the Creed character, as far as it goes… but there were some really nice moments that told us about the character that you didn’t mention.

-Relationship with Tony/Duke. We late learn Duke raised him, but two scenes really show us the relationship between them: the first is when Apollo is handling the showmanship side of the first fight, and Duke watches Balboa on tv. He warns Apollo that Balboa is serious, and when Apollo blows him off, the foreshadowing concern on Duke’s face tells us he foresees disaster. The second moment is when Apollo’s sycophants are telling him to put the fight with Rocky behind him – he turns to Duke for an honest opinion — and gets it.

    - Apollo’s drive: When his reputation is damaged from his poor showing in the first fight, he is inconsolable, lashing out at all around him, including his wife. That’s when he starts to train in earnest. He has slacked off training for the first fight. One must wonder, if Apollo had trained properly, how far the first fight would have gone. By the time of the second fight Apollo was a year older. See below.
We also know that after he loses the belt, he totally isolates himself, even from his wife and kids.

    - Apollo’s age. We know he’s older than Rocky, who is already old for a fighter by 1970s-80s standards. His age is an explicit motivating factor when he takes on Drago. It surely hurt him by the time he lost the belt to Rocky.
To Weathers’s credit, he looked better with every outing (as did Stallone). He was in great shape in the first movie; fantastic shape in the second movie, and just plain unbelievable by the time he stepped into the ring with Lundgren. I have no idea why Acton Jackson wasn’t one of the Expendables.

Hilarious. The prize was the iconic bad mother fucker wallet from Pulp Fiction. Where do I enter? Keep up all the good stuff on this site.
