THE THRILL-SEEKERS 45 – Conversation Over

THE THRILL-SEEKERS 45 – Conversation Over

As always, Pastor is a man of his word.  Vengeance will come swiftly for the remaining members of the Thrill-Seekers, but how is Caroline Belmont going to get Pastor out of this?  And what is it that she needs from him?  We’ll find out soon enough, but look for a couple of familiar faces to return in the next week.

On a housekeeping note, if you’re interested in a great gift for the bad mofo in your life, I encourage you to visit our sponsor, BMFWallets.com.

Thanks for dropping by, and I’ll see you again on Friday!

WHAAAAA!? i’ll be dawg gon’! Pastor killed him. didn’t see that comin’. bravo!!!!

  2. Guess Who says:

As your personal “distasteful violence meter,” thanks for showing the brutal killing without the gore. Other artists could learn from this. We get what happened. We don’t have to be grossed out by it. The third panel where Pastor nonchalantly drops Ned’s body on the floor emphasizes the cold, hard side of our hero. And I didn’t have to look at a puddle of blood or exposed vocal cords in a slashed throat. Thanks.

That lead up to the kill is so excellently written, Jay. I may be echoing A’Omare there, but bravo, sir, bravo! :D

  4. Jessica says:

Wow, the expression on Pastor’s face. Determined yet detached. The man is beyond lethal cool. All in a day’s work.

I’d like to suggest Chiwetel Ejiofor (American Gangster, Inside Man 1 & currently IM2, Children of Men) to play Pastor in the movie.

  5. Kris LK says:

Excellent work, Jay. Being that Pastor is a man of his word, I am most intrigued to see how he keeps the promise, “They ain’t gonna see me coming.”

  6. Jay Potts says:

    A’Omare-
Yeah you did. Quit jivin’ me!

    Thanks, though!

    Guess Who-
In his book, Understanding Comics, Scott McCloud writes about the infinite world of possibilities that hang in the gutter between panels. In scenes like this, the reader has to use the context that I’ve established to provide the closure for what happened, much like Duke’s body hurtling through space, a small spot against the sky.

    Coyote Trax-
Thank you, sir. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a while. One down, two to go.

    Jessica-
I thought Chiwetel Ejiofor was great in Dirty Pretty Things and he was really badass as the antagonist in Serenity. I heard he was great in Redbelt, in which he plays an MMA fighter, but I still haven’t watched it yet. However, I wasn’t sure about your suggestion, until I saw this picture:

    Yeah, that’s the look.

Yay! Jay! I love this comic. That middle panel is awesome, tell them why they are in hell because you will be there first. It’s another badass line that tells someone that they are about to meet their end without saying “I’m gonna kill you.” Kinda like the speech SLJ makes in Pulp Fiction before he makes it rain hot lead. An original BMF! Keep em coming.

  11. DadaHyena says:

I absolutely love the inking on this comic. You wouldn’t be a Gene Colan fan by any chance?

  12. Jay Kelley says:

Magnificent. Comic strips are a minimalist art form. There’s a thin line between showing too much and not showing enough. Potts — you have rendered that line irrelevant. You know exactly what you’re doing. Your take on blaxploitation is something to take pride in..
