Way back in Episode 34 – “Revival Tent,” I drew a close-up of Pastor holding Caroline Belmont’s face in his hands. The image included a shot of the cuffs of Pastor’s dress shirt.
Regular commenter, KrisLK, took note of the cuffs and wrote in the comments,”I love his choice of cufflinks (or is it an embroidered cuff?). Regardless, nice detail!”
I responded with, “Thanks for noticing. That is a cufflink, and it might just have some bearing on the story somewhere down the line. Good catch.”
Welcome to “somewhere down the line.” Pastor’s sharp on his feet, but he’s not perfect. While fighting in shirtsleeves, he left a potential clue behind to his involvement in Ned’s death, but thankfully Det. Haworth was there to pick up on it. You might also notice that in the last episode, Haworth was kneeling down, apparently tying his shoes, but he was also kind of distracted. Now we know why. It’s a little detail in The Thrill-Seekers, but Haworth’s secret may possibly snowball and create serious consequences in a subsequent arc.
Man, I love it when a plan comes together! Speaking of plans, stay tuned for the next episode, as we see how Pastor plans his final revenge against Charles and Tuck. You won’t want to miss that one, because the next strip, while pushing the story ahead, will also lay the groundwork for The Black Fist, the next planned story in WORLD OF HURT.

That attention to detail is amazing, I guess Haworth is the good cop here in more ways than one.
Thrill Seekers has been a great story.. You’re a great story teller Jay.
i THOUGHT that shoe-tying was odd….HA! you are one clever man. now you’re gonna have everyone analysing EVERYTHING from here on out. LOL. i’m just wondering why haworth didn’t cough up the clue immediately… time will tell, time will tell….
Urgh… but I don’t wanna wait ’til next week… I wanna know now! Hehehe… I concur w/ Tracy – you’re a great story teller. I’m so hooked!
I never grow tired of looking at your work! I’m going to be smiling the rest of the day after this one.
Okay, so I’m working on the trailer for my webcomics and I think….I just know Jay has a trailer for Pastor. So I go to You Tube and search for world of hurt online (or is it under Pastor) and I see…nada. Am I looking in the wrong place or searching under the wrong name…and if you don’t have a trailer…..would you like one?
I noticed Haworth distracted last week and thought it was nice touch. I also, thought he came off like his head was in the clouds. How wrong i was. Very nice!
And I LOVE Stieners tie. My Dad had a few of those flared out bad boys. Great touch!
On a side note. Have you seen the Urban Action 4-pack DVD realeased by Warner Brothers a few weeks back? Black Belt Jones, 3 the Hard Way, Black Sampson, and Hot Potato for $12. Found it at Target of all places.
Nice storytelling.
William-
Andy’s fun to draw, and he plays off Steiner well, however, I’m still debating on how “good” he actually is. Everything isn’t always what it appears to be in Pointe Blanc.
Also, I really appreciate the work you’ve done to promote the site, particularly on HeroTalk.
Thanks!

Tracy-
You’re too kind. But I could still botch the ending, like a gymnast screwing up the dismount.

A’Omare-
Ha! You’ve pulled a Babe Ruth before and called some of my shots, so I’ve know I’ve scored a coup if I can stay one step ahead of you. Everything won’t be a clue to something else…but you never know. Mwa-ha-hah!

Andy and Jenny-
Gracias! I was going to use Andy’s appearance in these last two strips as an epilogue for The Thrill-Seekers, but Guess Who had an even better idea that tied things together quite nicely, so I moved them here. I have a couple of extra panels featuring Det. Haworth that were better likenesses, but these fit the story better.

Jessica-
No, I don’t have a trailer, but that would be AWESOME! If you need any help or scans, just let me know. Thanks!

Parker-
Good catch. Re-reading last week’s strip, even I was surprised with how out of character Haworth seemed. Steiner’s tie is actually based on a real pattern from a tie I saw from a 70s-era JC Penney catalog. Originally, I had another duo-shade acetate overlay for his tie, but it didn’t work with the rest of the outfit, so I flipped through my reference materials and found a simple-to-draw, but bold pattern. After doing this one, I think I’ll make loud ties Steiner’s signature.

Parker-
That actually seems like a pretty good selection. I need a new copy of Three The Hard Way, anyway, and I have to admit that I’ve never seen Black Belt Jones. I think a Target run is in order.

Njeri-
I went to high school with a great storyteller, so something was bound to rub off on me.

Great artwork and poses, as always. I like the interaction in the second panel (mostly how he’s reacting to having shove a finger in his face!).
