Hmmm, now you got me thinking. I was thinking that in the previous strip, they were both approaching one another , but sideways and both facing the same direction. Once Pastor extends his arm, the slap takes Charles on the side and front of his face, so I thought he’d fall in that general direction of the swing. I don’t know. And, it makes me feel good to see Charles get smacked. Completely agree with your reasoning to backhand him instead of giving him the honour of a punch. What is throwing me off is that, to me, he should be falling the other way if he was just backhanded. So, falling with the flow of the punch. Did he turn post smack to fall? For the panel to work this effectively, you've got to see his face, the physics just seem off.
