THE THRILL-SEEKERS 59 – Rumble, Young Man, Rumble

I’ve been watching a lot of Deadliest Warrior on Spike TV, so I’ve probably given waaay too much thought into the speed and force that would be necessary to drive a k-bar knife through a guy’s head.

The art’s not bad…I tune in for the dialogue though hehehe
Love the guy 1ft off the ground Jay, he’s already in “another place” :)

  2. A'Omare says:

man this is great work! the movement is good. now can i hire Pastor to handle a couple of ass-clowns in my city, annoying me?! lol

  3. RBynum says:

Oh, the indignity! Three dudes getting their asses kicked by a guy in a scuba-tard! (Of course, Pastor can pull off the look with manhood intact. Much like Sinatra could look cool wearing orange…)

  4. Love it, the awesome sound effects really seal the deal!

  5. Doug G says:

Don’t need Max Geiger to figure this one out.

    Advantage: Pastor!

  6. RPD says:

Nice Uncle (Jay Potts), Ya doing great!

check out my post on Movies @: http://www.rpdlife.wordpress.com

  7. Parker says:

No disrespect to the scene ( I love it)…But for some reason the first thing I thought of was it reminded me of a fight scene from “Danger Island” on the Banana Splits Show. It would totally ruin the scene, but I want Pastor say “Uh-oh, Chongo!”

  8. Deadliest Warrior?
Lets see how they’d fare against Ajax or Cleon!LOL

You are going to have to start drawing in 7.1 if you are going to keep having all those sound effects flying around like in the last panel.
Isn’t there some kinda toon law about one sfx per panel?

  9. Parker says:

Me need proofread before post internet.

    RPD-
Hey! How ya’ doing? I certainly will drop by, and I’ll encourage others to do so, too. I enjoy your writing about wrestling, so I’m curious about your take on other issues.

  11. Jay Potts says:

    Parker-
I gotta track that down. Robin, to the YouTube…

Rules? Pshaww! I’ve been flying by the seat of my pants all this time, why should I change now?

By the way, did you see the Rajput weapons last night? That “Xena, Warrior Princess” chakram ain’t no joke!

    Doug G-
I can’t wait for a “Deadliest Warrior” video game, so I can play as Shaka Zulu and have him running around with an AK-74 shooting at Al Capone’s wiseguys.

    MAS-
Y’know, I actually DO feel like I’m cheating the audience during action heavy strips, because the dialogue is so sparse, so I try to make it up to y’all by amping up the purty pictures.

    A’Omare-
Like my Twitter tagline says, “Sometimes Good People Need A Bad Man. In 1972, Isaiah ‘Pastor’ Hurt Was The BADDEST Man Alive!”

    RBynum-
C’mon, you gotta give Fred Williamson credit for makig the “scuba-tard” look cool in “Hell Up In Harlem.” However, I do promise the next episodes will have fewer shots of his junk.

    William-
Thanks! I’m gonna try to integrate them a little better. At first, I was shy about using them, but it’s such a distinct, old-school comic book thing, that I think they really add something to the strips.

  18. Jay Kelley says:

Pastor is like a force of nature here. Deadly and unstoppable. Woe be to the villain who crosses his path…

  19. Guess Who says:

RBynum is right. Pastor’s manhood certainly is intact.

  20. Ed says:

Have you stopped posting the strip at blog@newsarama? I noticed that it had seemed too long since I had seen an instalment there, and came here to find a new strip (last one at blog@ was I think the one for the 19th).
If so, that site loses something that really enhanced it, as far as I`m concerned (though I`m willing to start coming here to read WoH).

  21. Jay Potts says:

    Ed-
Actually, that’s my fault. I’m still with Blog@Newsarama, I’ve just been seriously remiss in my blogging duties there. I plan to rectify that soon. I appreciate you checking it out though. I sometimes wondered if anyone saw my Blog@ posts. :)
