THE THRILL-SEEKERS 60 – The Great Equalizer

THE THRILL-SEEKERS 60 – The Great Equalizer

Now we see the detriment of bringing a knife to a gunfight.  The odds finally catch up with Pastor asTuck gets his licks in and Pastor suffers a slight setback.

Remember, I’ll be in Charlotte for HeroesCon this weekend.  If you’re going to be there, be sure to stop by Booth AA-240 and say, “Hi.”  I’ll be there with my buddy Anthony Summey, who’ll be helping me man the table.

Like the man said, “Come on down!” I’ve got t-shirts, buttons, an anthology which I contributed to, and I had prints made up for Episode #16- “Back With A Vengeance” and the infamous Episode #56-” Pimp Slap.”

I just got the prints delivered and they look pretty sweet. (Big shout out to Nick Sachs at http://www.comicbookprinting.com. I haven’t compared their other products, but the price for prints was even better than what Ka-Blam! offers. Also, the service is fast and friendly and the final product is excellent!)

Damn … took one right through the shoulder, looks like.

Looks like Tuck also might have sprayed a couple into one of his own troops. Bet he didn’t offer healthcare benefits, either.

Outstanding work, my man! I’ve just discovered World of Hurt in the past 24 hours. The spirit of the genre is definitely captured here in the dialogue and artwork. I’ve read the blog post and many of the comments. Now I’m anticipating the big payoff.

Was Ned Belmont named after Ned Beaumont from “The Glass Key” by Dashiell Hammett?

Keep up the great work. Pastor don’t take no jive!

  5. MAS says:

Don’t forget we still have “the mystery attachment” (bomb) under the boat?
Pastor’s fail-safe in case he doesn’t make it…nobody gets out alive?
Looks like Tuck’s got two shots left if counting bullets Maxwell Smart style counts :)

Great action Jay, that knee to the head really conveys some power…hrnph indeed!!

    Joe-
I’m glad you found the strip and I’m always appreciative of any comments that folks leave. Did you happen to learn about it through our carpet bombing of postcards at Heroes Con? Either way, I’m glad you’re here.

Will it make me seem smarter if I DID say that Ned’s name was inspired by Hammett? Then…yes. Yes, it was! No, actually “Belmont” seemed appropriately upper crust and aristocratic to fit the character. However, my intent was to treat the story like a traditional detective novel, plus Hammett was one of the creators of the comic strip, Secret Agent X-9, which during it’s run, featured art by two of my influences, Al Williamson and Alex Raymond, so there is still a Dashiell Hammett connection in WORLD OF HURT.

    MAS-
*Summoning my best Maxwell Smart impression*
“Would you believe TWO bullets?” or “Ah, the old mystery-case-under-the-boat trick.”

We’ll definitely see that come into play VERY soon.

I wish I went to Heroes Con! No, I forget if I found it by searching online comics or if it had something to do with blaxploitation. Either way, I’m thankful for it. What a terrific discovery.

I could definitely see the Williamson influence. It drew me in automatically. I read the anthology “Best Crime Comics” a couple years ago with an X-9 story in it. Pastor would be at home among the included titles.

I have an avatar. Do you know why it doesn’t appear?
