THE THRILL-SEEKERS 61 – Down, But Not Out”

I’ll tell you one thing: constructing a good, pithy, “Your mama” joke is tougher than it looks.  However, I do like the second panel and the force behind Tuck’s kick.  It just looks like it hurts.

I’ll do a full write-up for my Friday blog post, but I just want everyone to know that I had a great time at Heroes Con this past weekend.  It was fantastic meeting all the fans of WORLD OF HURT, meeting old friends and acquaintances and making new ones.  A couple of y’all even saw this strip in it’s pencil stage, since I was working on it at my table for part of the time I was there.

Oh, snap! I never thought Tuck would be the one out of the three stooges to get a good shot at Pastor. That bomb’s ticking down, too. Let’s see how long fat boy keeps the upper hand. Love the dimensions in the first panel.

    Joe-
“The Three Stooges.” I like that term for The Thrill-Seekers. Ever since the strip where Caroline mentioned the animosity between Charles and Tuck, I had it in my mind that Tuck would assert himself after Ned’s death. I thought Tuck had the size and the mean-streak to actually be a credible threat to Pastor.

I suspect that getting called “boy” will give Pastor some extra motivation. And, I’m worried about Pastor’s handsome face after getting kicked in the teeth. Will he be able to work out a deal with a dentist when he gets off this boat?

    Jay,

Congrats at all the luv shown to you at Heroes con.

Oh, and here’s a sneak peak at a test video for Pastor. Just go to
http://confessionsofashapeshifter.com/ and you’ll see the first blog post with a 30 second vid.

I found this cool site (http://animoto.com) where I could do free 30 second mock ups.
This is a great site with easy to use tools. That one and also ISSUU, where you can do a magazine styled flip page of your comic for FREE, and even print it out! I just love free stuff that looks professional!

This isn’t the final vid and things can be changed as you wish. I can email you the code for this video (one of the quirks of the site is that when you edit a video, it never comes out the same way)

    What up Jay,
I met you at Heroes and bought a shirt from you. It was good meeting you. I said I would start leaving comments. So this is my first one of many more. Why did Pastor have to catch the boot to the face though? That’s tough stuff.

  6. Jay Potts says:

    Jamaal-
Absolutely, I remember you. You came by with Michael, right?
I was just talking with someone about the boot to the head. So far, Pastor’s been coming out of bad situations smelling like a rose. He’s been outnumbered and outgunned, and he’s managed to win with sheer ruthlessness, so I figured it was time the odds caught up with him.

    Jessica-
I wasn’t able to check it out until I got to my own computer, but that trailer is absolute GENIUS! I love it! The music, selection of panels, and the way you edited it was awesome! That is phenomenal, and I can’t thank you enough.

  8. Doug G says:

And Tuck’s an old military guy, right? I figure he, like the late, great departed Chester of Drive-By Truckers fame, might be “solid muscle and gut.”

  9. MAS says:

Whoa, Pastor’s dropping Momma lines and fat gags in the same insult, that’s why he’s the hero :)
Now where did Tuck buy those pants? …that’s why he’s the villain.
Great work Jay, the tensions really building. Pastor looks to be in the weaker position…right?

  10. Jessica says:

Thanks for the shout out Jay!

I’m sending you the embed code for the trailer, and the ISSUU embed code for the
mock up flip mag I did on Pastor (I just put it up on my site under the trailer, its jsut a sneak peek of some of your first pages)

This way other fans can spread the word about World of Hurt.
