THE BLACK FIST 5 – A Pastor Problem

THE BLACK FIST 5 – A Pastor Problem

I think you might be able to guess who’ll be returning next week.

Also, on a housekeeping note, I have to apologize.  I’ve had some rather lengthy, time-consuming outside issues and projects control my attention over the past few months, so I have to admit that I’ve largely had the site on cruise control for much of the summer going into the fall.  I’ve done a terrible job with the Friday updates, social networking, and even responding to the comments.  I’m terrible at multi-tasking, so the site, and you great readers, got neglected.  Thankfully, much of that is behind me now, so I can focus more on WORLD OF HURT.

In the works are more movie reviews, a virtual tour of my new studio, a new Unsung BMF, and I’ll finally let you know who won the trivia contest!  Also, feel free to let me know what you’d like to see.

Finally, I wanted to pimp the badass theme song that C.E. Garcia created for WORLD OF HURT, entitled “The Black Fist,” which is now available on iTunes for 99 cents.  You can’t beat that price with a bat!  Depending on how the sales of this one go, I may be able to enlist his considerable talents on another composition.  On iTunes, search for “C.E. Garcia” or “The Black Fist” to find it.

Good to have you back, Jay.
I think this episode ends with the moment to cue the W.O.H theme as Pastor comes strolling into the story. Nice timing…

I like the way you drew Ms. Foster. Her body language indicates a strong woman who is not intimidated by the police chief or the preacher. I think I’m gonna like her.

  3. Doug G says:

Totally. Makes me wonder if the good Reverend wasn’t about to offer some “cooperation” — maybe with a price tag attached? Seems like I remember the thrill-seekers talking about how all you had to do was grease some ministers’ palms to keep them quiet.

  4. Jay Potts says:

    MAS-
Thanks! I was thinking the same thing, even to the point of wondering if I should have title cards incorporated into the next strip.

    Guess Who-
I’m feeling the same way. My only regret with her character is that she was originally supposed to be “Mrs. Foster,” which would have established a different dynamic with Pastor, but I changed it at the very last minute.

    Doug G-
Good memory! I was absolutely alluding to Episode 12 – “No One Can Touch Us” from The Thrill-Seekers with this sequence. I didn’t want to make it too overt though. Great catch!
