I had fun with Rev. Tisdale’s sermon, particularly in trying to capture the cadence and delivery of a Southern preacher in text alone.

I’d say you succeeded with the good reverend’s dialogue. The little asides in the middle of things really sell it.
More sweeping scenery – did I not pick up on your references to buildings/cities/towns in ‘The ThrillSeekers’? I’m loving it this time around.
Like Joshua says, the dialogue is great, real preacher vibe coming across there!
Is that an un-captioned “OH” in frame 2? The “Well” confuses me too? But I may just be missing the point???
I love the final frame, a real juxtaposition and brings the flavour of the series story so far back into focus; a group of people working together towards a single purpose.

I’ve tried to get better about backgrounds, but I really have to attribute most of it to my generous use of Sketchup. It’s a tremendous resource. I have most of the D’Urville District laid out in a giant Sketchup file.
In the Black churches I’ve attended here in the South, “well” is a refrain that the congregants will sprinkle throughout the sermon. It’s used to co-sign a particularly salient point from the preacher. It might be a regional thing (southern Georgia, to be exact). Also, the “oh” was accidentally left in there as I was lettering. I’ll have to get rid of that and re-post it. Good catch.

Who is the sniper aiming at? It looks like he is aiming at the window on the side, which architecturally would likely be a sunday school room and not the window behind the Rev. I hope he is not aimimng at the kids in Children’s Church. Actually the window behind the Rev. would likely open up to the bapitismal area. HMMM.. will try and work out a no prize solution al la oldschool Marvel.

Snipers are known for their patience. The sniper may not be aiming at anyone, yet. They may be waiting behind the church for the target(s) to show up. Hmmm?
So, no “No-Prize” for you!

Well, he is at the back of the church so his target obviously isn’t coiming out of the front door. Now I’ll have to wait a whole week to see how this will play out.
And there is only one car in the back parking lot. Whose is it?
You’ve got the preacher talk nailed, Jay. I think I’ve even heard this sermon before, although I’m scratching my head a little over John 2:17.
I sure do hope they don’t shoot the preacher. But if they do, surely there will be truth in the old saying: “Vengeance is mine, saith the Pastor!”
Nice! Man, I just found your site today and read the whole series. Are you planning on ever releasing a printed version?
@RevCharlie Maybe it’s a somewhat meta-reference? Someone being overwhelmed by zeal for God certainly sounds like what little experience I have with this type of preaching.
Yeah, sorry to nitpick, but it should be James 2:17! I guess we can assume the reverend simply misspoke, though…
Scott-
Yeah. He…he got all into the spirit and…and…Dang, I gotta fix that!

I love the first panel. AUTHENTIC.
Arttronik-
This one has some of my favorite dialogue in the entire series.
