I just found out about you through your interview on comic geek speak. I read your entire run in a day. I love it! This is how a web comic should be. The extras like the blog and the music etc. just bring it all together and make your site more than just a comic strip, it’s an overall experience. I am not belittling the strip by saying this, it is great. But with webcomics I feel you need more to hook you, more content, and you are doing a great job of that.

My favorite thing about the strip itself is how you pack so much info and story into one strip with out it being cluttered. Everything is there for a reason, whether it’s a man on one knee (who we find out later is secretly picking up evidence) or whether it’s a pair of keys on a desk that comes into play later. Each persons expression or simple back ground elements add to the story visually with out the need for more words. To top it off each strip has a satisfying end whether it’s a punchline, a twist or a cliffhanger.

My only criticism is that I think you should have more items in your store! I am looking for a way to show support but I am not very interested in t-shirts. I would love an actual book! Maybe oversized to show off your great art!

Also since I am rambling on and on … I would love to see your art process sometime! Maybe a blog entry in the future?

Thanks for a great story. I hope it continues long into the future.

The soundfx suggest the vast amount of metal these classic vehicles were made out of. Plus the speed lines in the road convey the insane level of speed. Peter Yates eat your heart out. Very effective. One request however, any chance you can do a hill jump? You’ve gotta have a hill jump.

Aw man, I really, really appreciate all the kind words. Can I just take you comment and make it a press release? ;)

I actually am considering adding a few items to my store, including commissions and original pages for sale. Also, I am actively taking steps to get a collection of The Thrill-Seekers out there before HeroesCon. I hope to have something on Kickstarter to raise funds and take pre-orders before the end of the month. The size I’m aiming for is slightly oversized, around 14″ X 7″ with one strip per page. It will include a foreword, extra sketches, process stuff, and I was considering re-doing a couple strips or panels that I wasn’t completely happy with. However, my intent is to have the original strips run in the back.

    Bighead Scientists-
You know, a hill jump was one of the things I wanted to do. As you know, Pointe Blanc is based on San Francisco and nothing says San Francisco car chase like a nice hill jump. I’ll see if I can work it into the next strip somewhere as the chase makes its fateful conclusion.

Making that sense of speed and impact work in a stationary medium is no mean feat, sir. Well done. P.S. Thanks for the well wishes! The littlest Pastor fan is trucking right along.

World of Hurt: Clash of the Pimpmobiles… I love this week’s strip! I was literally laughing out loud here in the office at the final frame.

    Doug G.-
Thank you. I worried about how to make it work, but then I remembered to incorporate certain subtle, but noticeable aspects into the chase, like the lean of the cars going into the turns and the cars no longer sharing a vanishing point as they bump into one another. I think that help sells it more.

It’s good to hear Solomon and parents are doing well. In the words of Eddie Kendricks, “keep on truckin’.”

    Andy-
Since I cannibalized part of the original script for The Black Fist for parts of The Thrill-Seekers, the full script has turned into more of an outline. However, that line is one of the things that survived.

  9. Back from the holidays and I get to read two new strips in one day…made the car chase seem all the more high paced. I’m really looking forward to the printed version of The Thrillseekers (Thanks Scott T for pushing the issue heheh). Seeing your process on a blog would make great reading too.
This week I’m loving the lack of detail in the guy in frame three, I think this conveys the speed of movement and ACTION, ACTION, ACTION!!!!

Scott T can always purchase the soundtrack if he wants a piece of World of Hurt.
