Pulling off this reveal was another one of those only in comics moments. Terry has spoken a couple times in the strip, but since you couldn’t hear her voice, there was no way of knowing she was a woman. Also, for the record, otherwise I did play completely fair. Terry has always been in heavy shadows or seen from a distance, so her gender was indistinct. Part of me wrestled whether this would be a cheesy reveal, but I have a definite reason for doing this, which you will see in the next strip, but it also plays into a larger theme I’m developing in The Black Fist.

for some reason I’m thinking she will turn out to be a “good guy”. really diggin the attention to period clothing and props through out the strip too, foe exampe the high waist on the girls pants this strip. little details are what make good comics great.
I like this one, moved the plot forward and no wasted space. Keep up the good work

Went back and checked, too. Only hitch is the voice. She only speaks a couple of times, so for suspension-of-disbelief purposes, maybe it was muttered in a way that the gender wouldn’t be obvious? Maybe she has one of those gravelly, just-woke-up voices that, in a high-stress situation, wouldn’t sound overly feminine? Or, hell … maybe we just give the hard-working writer a break and enjoy the reveal. : )
Interesting to see the halting (reluctant?) way she takes the order to grab the gun and shoot during the chase. And, unless I missed it, I don’t think a shot was ever fired, despite the fact that it looks like they were at pretty close range with Pastor. Could match up with her “Please?” after being caught?

Are you referring to the phone call to the mayor’s office? If so, I tried to establish in Episode 8 that while Terry was on the roof acting as the spotter, Billy was the getaway driver. It was Billy who placed the call, posing as Mr. Hooks from the mayor’s office, since he was already on the ground. (I don’t think I gave a name to the sniper, did I? Hmm…)
Was that “the voice” you were referring to? If it wasn’t I’ll slink off to formulate some lame excuse in a desperate effort to save face. If it was, then I’ll rub my hands with villainous glee and ask you, Bruce Leroy, “Who’s the master? WHO’S THE MASTER?!!”

Seems like there were a couple of other comments here and there, but I could totally be attributing things to her that were from other characters. Either way, I’m satisfied with the turn of events.
