  1. Dr Ennui says:

    Pastor had better do so politely and pay my kid back with interest, but he doesn’t seem like a man who would do otherwise…

  2. Dr Ennui says:

    …he’s even sporting a Cosby sweater to dial back the intimidation.

  3. CaptAmerica says:

    That center frame is amazing. I love the whole sequence. Very cinematic, right down to the “dutch” angle on the final. Nice work on the vintage baseball uniforms too!

  4. Guess Who says:

    I am totally digging the outfits on Pastor and Vonetta. They look so cool.

  5. Dr. Ennui,
    Maybe he can call in a favor from one of the guys on the team to get the boy some autographed memorabilia. Personally, I’d like to see a story about Pastor and baseball. Think of the damage he could do with a bat :)

  6. Mistah Pete says:

    Loving that sweater set. Somehow both conservative and dangerous. But a tutu would look dangerous on Pastor.

    Angle in that panel really highlights it, too. He’s all kinds of Portier in appearance and tone, but that Dutch angle says he could go Fred Williamson any minute.

    @CaptAmerica-
    Thanks! The time at HeroesCon gave me a fresh perspective on my work which I wanted to seize on before I forgot what I learned.

    @Guess Who-

    You know how much clothing reference I have. I figured a shift in the scene would be the perfect opportunity to show it off.

    @Mistah Pete-
    Later today I’ll scan in the reference I used. It was based on an actual sweater set from a 1972 catalog. The model in the photo helps support your “conservative and dangerous” contention.

  10. Jay, another cool episode. And you really need to turn that book cover into a poster or print of some kind. I would love to put that image on the wall next to my autographed Dolemite poster.

  11. Mark Turner says:

    Love the old school baseball mitt the kid is rockin’, I had one just like it back in the day!

  12. Jay Potts says:

    Vincent S. Moore-
    Jeremy did a fantastic job with the colors. I actually had posters made for HeroesCon where I sold them at the low, low price of $3 a copy. I’ll add them to the online store soon, but if you want one, give me a holler.

    I want the whole story now! Just give it to us! For real though, this is by far one the top webcomics out there. It’s required reading. I read it every wed. morning like clockwork, still glassy eyed from just waking up while i’m taking my morning deuce.

  14. Dre says:

    Classic – I love that dutch angle on the last panel. Your work gets better and better

  15. Doug G says:

    I love the character development on Haworth here. We already had the impression that he’s a straight shooter. But now we see him sharing his love of the game with his son — and passing on the preferential treatment he could have gotten. That was a great catch on Pastor dressing down for the occasion — but also interesting that he makes a point of knowing Haworth’s son’s name. Does that reveal an existing friendship — or that Pastor has done his homework?
