Aaand we’re back!

I want to thank everyone for sticking by me during this long hiatus.  It was really an unscheduled mental health vacation for me.  With the holidays and everything else that’s been going on, I realized I needed some time to take care of myself, have a more normal schedule, and enjoy some time with my wife.  Honestly, I haven’t even logged on to check my stats in ages, but I really, REALLY appreciate all your support.

As I came up to this strip, I had some real ambivalence about Pastor torturing a helpless man in such a cold-blooded manner, so I struggled with how I was going to play this scene. I decided to have Pastor mirror that ambivalence.  Despite his earlier bravado, he’s wrestling with himself about the ugly work he feels he has to do.

Welcome back!

I called this strip “Brass Tacks,” because that’s what both the story and Pastor are getting down to with this week’s installment.  If you don’t like action and violence, you might want to check out now, because that’s pretty much all we’re gonna see from here on out along with some interesting revelations.

This strip also marks the first appearance of my top Kickstarter contributor, Jonathan “J.G.” Gelatt as one of Harlan’s henchmen. I promised a two strip minimum, but J.G. will end up playing a pretty big part.

Speaking of the Kickstarter campaign, I should have a schedule from my printer at the end of the week to let me know when I can expect the books.  I will post it here and on Facebook, Twitter, and e-mail all the contributors as soon as I learn the date the books will ship.  Again, thank you for your patience everyone.

I apologize for last week, and especially for not posting an explanation for not having a strip.  I was just having a really off week and I just needed a mental health day, so to speak. No matter what I did, I couldn’t put the strip to bed, and what I came up with was largely unsatisfactory. So, I basically retreated from the Internet for most of the week and re-charged my batteries.  Again, I apologize for the unexplained absence. I don’t anticipate too many more of those, but ultimately, I think it lead to one of the better illustrated strips that I’ve done in a while.  Thanks!
