I want to thank everyone for your support for these past sixteen months. It has been invaluable.

What happens next, you might ask?

Well, Pastor will return in four weeks in WORLD OF HURT: The Black Fist. I need a little time to recharge my batteries. However, while you wait for The Black Fist to begin, there WILL be new content on Wednesdays, and the Friday blog will still be in effect. For the next month, I’ll be running a completely new short story called Western Sun Rising. Western Sun Rising is the story of a samurai in the Old West. It will conclude at the end of the four weeks, so you can consider it a brief intermission between the WORLD OF HURT stories.

Stay tuned, folks, because it’s been a long run, but we’re just getting started!

Now, I have some more good news for you. This weekend, I’m getting married to the lovely, talented, funny, exciting, and adventuresome Noelle Phillips after nearly a decade of dating. It’s been a wonderful trip so far, but I hope our journey together is just beginning. One of the reasons she’s the love of my life is that she even makes the most mundane things fun. We’re having a small ceremony in northern Georgia with our immediate family in attendance.

So, as you’ve probably surmised, I won’t be around to check the website for the next week, but please feel free to leave comments. I’ll enjoy catching up when I get back. Also, in case you were worried, I already have next week’s strip lined up in the queue so I won’t leave you high and dry with an unresolved cliffhanger.

Take it easy and I’ll see you next week.

You may have already seen this if you’ve read the comments for this week’s strip, but I think it’s so cool that I had to post it. Friend of WORLD OF HURT and fellow webcomic artist, Jessica Milar (Confessions Of A Shapeshifter) has generously taken her time and creativity to put together a fantastic “trailer” for WORLD OF HURT. I especially love the selection of panels Jessica used. My favorite part is the transition from Pastor opening the door to the Belmont mansion to the close-up of Caroline Belmont at the pool. The use of the warm red as Pastor decks Ned in the face is also a simple, clever, and effective storytelling tool. The whole thing is quite professionally done and makes me look like a million bucks! The great thing is, this fits perfectly with a Semi-Secret Project that another long-time reader has been working on. We’re not ready to make any announcements yet, but it is rather exciting news and is something that I don’t think has ever been done in connection with a webcomic. (Sorry. For a second there, I felt like I was channeling Not_Mark Millar.) Anyway, stay tuned!

So, I definitely want to give a big shout out and a hearty “Thank you” to Jessica! Now roll that beautiful bean footage…

I honestly do believe that, in some way, all you readers deserve to take a bow for helping shape the character of “Pastor.” It was your feedback and advice that let me know if I was on the right track. I definitely appreciate that and your support in the past year. You helped make what was only a distant dream over a year ago into a vivid reality.

Thanks again!

I’m on my way to the home of cheesesteaks, the fictional battle of the ages between Apollo Creed and Rocky Balboa and American democracy (which I listed in order of importance). Yes, I’m headed to Philadelphia, PA today to attend the 9th Annual East Coast Age Of Comics Convention (ECBACC) this weekend. In conjunction with ECBACC, the ceremony for the 2010 Glyph Comics Awards is being held tonight at the African American Museum on 701 Arch St. The Awards are free and open to the public, so if you’re in the area, please come on by.

WORLD OF HURT has been nominated in six different Glyph Awards categories, including Best Writer, Best Artist, Story of The Year, Rising Star Award, Best Comic Strip and Best Male Character. I’m nervous, excited and wish good fortune and good travels to my fellow nominees and everyone else on their way to the convention. I’ll be joined by my parents, my brother and nephew, and my lovely fiancee, so WORLD OF HURT will be rolling in their posse-deep, my friends!

Due to all the preparations, I hope you can forgive the rather spare blog post for today, but I’ll be dropping some live updates tonight via Twitter after the event. Hit me up at http://twitter.com/World_Of_Hurt around 9:30 PM for the post-awards cereomy details.
